Summerland will develop its very own B.C. Spirit Square, establishing an area for special events thanks to $65,000 from the provincial government.
The Spirit Square Project will create a special events area at the Peach Orchard Beach Park by developing a gazebo, stage area, public art space, pathways, historical displays, sculpture and barbeque area.
The project is supported by Summerland's Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
The park connects to the Lower Town cycling and walking trails and the newly created Centennial Trail.
The funding announcement was made Feb. 1, 2008 by Okanagan-Westside MLA Rick Thorpe.
