A Spirit Square connecting Sooke’s commercial, residential and green spaces will be possible thanks to $237,500 from the Province’s B.C. Spirit Squares program.
The funding will see the development of a Spirit Square at Ed MacGregor Park, with a covered performance area, directional and interpretive signage, and public art. Plans for the enhanced event space include a water feature using onsite rainwater management techniques.
The location is a natural link to the pier trail route and existing boardwalk, encouraging people to walk the loop back to town
The announcement was made Nov. 14, 2008 by Technology, Trade and Economic Development Minister Ida Chong, on behalf of Community Development Minister Blair Lekstrom.
