Penticton will develop its very own B.C. Spirit Square, thanks to $400,000 from the provincial government, Penticton-Okanagan Valley MLA Bill Barisoff announced March 18.
The Penticton Centennial Plaza Spirit Square will be part of a bigger event park including a swimming beach, stage area and open green space. Located adjacent to the Lakeside Resort Hotel, the Art Gallery of the South Okanagan, and the Japanese Garden, it will offer a beautiful gathering place in Okanagan Park.
The project celebrates both the 100th anniversary of Penticton and BC150. The square will contain a story wall depicting the history of the area from 1858 through to 2008.
