B.C. Spirit Squares
MLA Pat Bell Announces Funding for Mackenzie Spirit Square

MacKenzie's Spirit Square will be a community celebration meeting place with a performance stage and surrounding viewing areas.

It will be showcased at the upcoming 2009 Northern BC Winter Games of which Mackenzie is proud to be the host community.

The design will accommodate year-round use by incorporating all-weather design elements.

The proposed site is currently underutilized green space surrounding the recreation centre, museum, arts centre and secondary school.

Design influences will be drawn from the area's strong forestry resource background with involvement from the McLeod Lake First Nations.

Mackenzie will receive a $343,500 grant from the provincial government for this project.
