The District of Logan Lake will receive a B.C. Spirit Squares grant of $85,000 from the provincial government to create a public gathering place for community events and celebrations.

Logan Lake’s Spirit Square will offer residents a central gathering place to celebrate important events and milestones, like B.C.’s 150th anniversary in 2008.

The Square will be constructed in Maggs Park, a central and popular location for community events and celebrations.

The funds from the Province's $20 million Spirit Square program will allow Logan Lake to expand and enhance the performance stage. Rock and wood, reflecting the community’s mining and forestry base, will be used in the future design.

The funding announcement was made Aug. 29 by Kevin Krueger, MLA for Kamloops-North Thompson and Minister of State for Mining, during a visit to the community.

The MLA also announced a $107,360 grant from the Towns for Tomorrow program to upgrade the community’s drinking water system.
