Kamloops will be developing its very own B.C. Spirit Square to celebrate the community’s rich history and commemorate BC150, British Columbia’s 150th anniversary, thanks to $375,000 from the provincial government.

The Kamloops North Shore Spirit Square consists of a grid of trees to represent the orchards that shaped the area, a time capsule filled and sealed at the square’s entrance for future generations to discover and an additional area to the west which will feature a Spirit Forest that includes historical sculptures.

This project will allow visitors to discover the rich history of the area and provide a gathering space for events such as farmer’s markets, community programming, and a shaded seating area.

The announcement was made Feb. 22 by Kamloops MLAs Claude Richmond and Kevin Krueger.
