The District of Chetwynd will soon realize a long-standing community desire for a central gathering place with its own Spirit Square at Cedar Park, thanks to a $200,000 grant from the provincial government in celebration of B.C.’s 150th anniversary, Peace River South MLA Blair Lekstrom announced March 27, 2008.
The Chetwynd Spirit Square will be centrally located in the heart of Chetwynd in Cedar Park at the intersection of 49th Street and 51st Avenue, adjacent to the downtown core, visitor’s information centre, Northern Lights College and the post office.
Plans include the addition of a multi-purpose plaza and entertainment stage, as well as an enhanced green space activity centre. Pedestrian access is already serviced by an existing trail system and municipal sidewalks.
Additional trails will connect the park to new residential areas.
