Through BC Spirit Squares, Merritt will transform a downtown parking lot into Legacy Plaza, a gathering place that will be able to host outdoor community events in the heart of downtown.
B.C. Spirit Squares are community gathering places, tributes to history and culture, and a lasting legacy for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike.
Each square paves the way for festivals, community activities and celebrations and will stay and as a testament to the people and collective experiences that have shaped British Columbia.
The $20-million B.C. Spirit Square program helps municipalities create or improve outdoor public meeting and celebration spaces based on 50/50 cost-sharing with local governments, to a maximum provincial contribution of $500,000. Funded Projects
